Thanks for all of the recent feedback around Community Labels being incorrectly applied to content. In particular, we appreciate the input we’ve received from the LGBTQIA+ community and understand the frustrations from folks who felt that their content was unfairly labeled. When we realized this was happening, we immediately investigated and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.

The LGBTQIA+ community makes up about a quarter of the Tumblr community. It is important for us to support all Tumblr users, especially those whose safe spaces are under threat in certain parts of the world.

As you know, alongside of the rollout of Community Labels we also expanded the types of content allowed on Tumblr as a way to welcome more creativity, art, and self-expression. Our goals remain the same today. Human error happens and we apologize to anyone who has been impacted by these mistakes.

We are working to better understand what happened and will follow up with more information soon.

Are textile arts/crafts different hobbies to you?

They're different hobbies to me. (I do ONE textile craft).

They're the same hobby to me. (I do ONE textile craft).

They're different hobbies to me. (I do MORE THAN ONE textile craft).

They're the same hobby to me. (I do MORE THAN ONE textile craft).

They're different hobbies to me. (I do NOT do textile crafts).

They're the same hobby to me. (I do NOT do textile crafts).

It's complicated/Secret third thing (tell me in the tags!)

Show me the results hobby boy >:)

For this poll, textile crafts are including but not limited to knitting, sewing, embroidery, crochet, weaving, quilting, et cetera. I apologize if I have left out your favorite one, it is 4:30 AM. Please feel free to tell me about your favorite in the tags.

For this poll, "hobby" refers to a distinct activity in your own perception. A good rule for this is if you would consider it a distinct hobby in another person, it is its own, and if you would consider it only a part of another person's larger hobby, it would not be its own hobby.

I am running this poll because I am curious as to whether or not people consider textile artists to be widely versed in hobbies or narrowly versed in them. Please choose the answer closest to your beliefs, rather than the answer you think any demographic may wish to see. I am interested in the wider perception, and reblogging would be appreciated as I believe this poll will end up being shown mostly to those already fairly knowledgeable in textile arts due to the tags I will be using. Thank you.

I knit and crochet they seem like different but similar hobbies to me

fiber crafters, how do you wash and dry your (primarily wool) items?

in a bucket with wool wash, hand-wring or towel burrito, air dry

in a bucket with wool wash, spin cycle in washing machine, air dry

in a washing machine on delicate/cool, air dry

in a washing machine on normal, air dry

in a washing machine on normal, machine dry

i live underwater where everything is being washed constantly (OP you forgot...)

n.b. i can only recommend gentle machine-washing options if your washer uses an impeller, not an agitator. sorry agitator gang you're just not chill enough for my comfort

first option haven’t been brave enough to put machine washable yarn into a machine yet lol
